Memory Worship for those with and without dementia

It is our vision in Memory Worship, that people with or without dementia can approach God, worship and praise & feel God's caring presence together.

Worship can be a channel for recalling the past, creating feelings of comfort, familiarity and spiritual fulfilment.

The formal part of the service lasts 30 minutes, before leading into craft and hospitality, which provide an opportunity for conversation to reinforce the theme of the service. Memory Worship is held monthly at Wesley & Thorpe Bay Methodist churches

1st Monday of the month Thorpe Bay Methodist, SS1 3HQ, 2-4pm

3rd Monday of the month Wesley Methodist, SS9 1SJ, 2-4pm

1st Tuesday of the month Rayleigh Methodist, SS6 7JP, 2pm-4pm

Julie Peek is the Mission Enabler for Older People and set up Memory Worship six years ago. She recently attended a Connexion wide webinar on 'Making Our Churches More Dementia Friendly'. The webinar can be found at the link below:
