Highlands Church has been serving West Leigh, the westernmost area of Southend Borough, since the 1920s.

Membership is stable at about 50, and the age profile is high. There are no other churches within half a mile in this mainly residential area bisected by the busy A13 road.

The building is in goodrepair and plays a vital partin the local community for 7 days a week. Regular users includesports and bridge clubs, mother/toddler groups, MenCap, music examinations, uniformed youth organisations and craft groups.

Highlands enjoys close and cooperative links with Wesley and Belfairs churches, frequently involving joint worship and celebrations.
